I-2.3—To
welcome all family members and encourage them to participate in the program.
We
encourage parental involvement because it helps the child to transition into a
new setting more smoothly. The parents are able to understand and support their
child’s education.
I-3A.2—To
share resources with co-workers, collaborating to ensure that the best possible
early childhood care and education program is provided.
We have
all heard the saying, “There is no I in team.” We are creating a positive work
environment by supporting one another and building a relationship by teaching
and sharing each other’s knowledge and skills.
I-1.5—To
create and maintain safe and healthy settings that foster children’s social,
emotional, cognitive, and physical development and that respect their dignity
and their contributions.
Each
child should feel as if they belong. By respecting each child we can build
their self-esteem and help them to feel that they are capable of anything in
life. We must maintain a safe and healthy environment in order for our children
to feel a sense of security.
Erika,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading the NAEYC Code Of Ethics, and the first one that you listed -code I-3A.2- is very important in stating that,"To share resources with co-workers. A lot my my classroom ideas and templates comes from my co-workers and/or colleagues and from attending trainings and seminars. It's a wonderful feeling for me to be able to call on another teacher to ask for an idea for my lesson plans, art projects or literacy ideas. As you stated, We are creating a positive work environment by supporting one another and building a relationship by teaching and sharing each other's knowledge and skills.
Hi Erika,
ReplyDeleteI agree that we should "welcome all family members and encourage them to participate in the program." As you state, parental involvement helps a child to transition into a new setting more smoothly. Involving families in their child's education does help them to understand the curriculum/program and support their child.
Hello Erika,
ReplyDeleteYou have posted some very good code of ethics that are meaningful to you. I strongly believe we should welcome families and always encourage parental involvement. As professional I believe that we should seek out new resources and share resources with co-workers and others. The last code of ethic is very meaningful to me as well. As early childhood educators we are to ensure that each child feels safe and that they belong, we have to foster self-esteem and create an atmosphere where children feel safe and secure
